February 2021 – Draw Close to God

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

In March 2020, as the first coronavirus lockdown hit the UK, we asked some of our regular pastors to record their experiences through this crisis.

What followed was some extraordinary insight from Rev. David Peterson, as he recounted his journey through tragedy, anger, obedience — and healing — and God made his voice known.

God understands, and He is willing to meet you at the point of your need. Obeying the Holy Spirit brings healing, obeying the Holy Spirit brings fulfillment. Obeying the Holy Spirit can deliver you from grief and mourning. The Bible talks about how God will replace your garment of mourning with one of praise.

Be encouraged and inspired by this authentic documentary, as we navigate the pandemic and find hope in the promises of God.

NEWS

The closeness of God

Someone once observed that if you are feeling far away from God, it is not God who moved. The truth is that God’s Word is filled with expressions of His deep desire for communion with us. Psalm 145:18, for one, assures us that the Lord “is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.”

However, there are times for every believer when hardships, trials, and the circumstances of life can work to make God seem distant from our heartache and trouble. In those times we especially need the comfort and assurance of His Word in our hearts. That’s why we’re provided the scriptures below — to remind us that God is close to us, even in our difficult seasons! Each scripture points to a promise and a time when God revealed His faithfulness and intimacy with those who follow him.

In Exodus 33:14, God promises to be with Moses as he carries out God’s instruction to lead the Israelites:
“The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’”

In Psalm 32:8, David reflects on God’s willingness to be with us as we pursue righteousness:
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;  I will counsel you with my
loving eye on you.”

In Jeremiah 1:19, God strengthens Jeremiah in the midst of his enemies:
“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,
declares the Lord.”

In Jeremiah 29:12, God reaches out when his people are in captivity and promises to draw near them again:
“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

In Zephaniah 3:17, God reminds us of the joy He has concerning His people, and that He is closer than ever:
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

In Haggai 2:4-5, God reminds us that He wants us to do well, and is with us, no matter what has happened in the past:
“‘But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.’”

In Matthew 28:20, we can see that we work with God, not just for God, and that His power is with us:
“…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

TESTIMONIES

Through this difficult season, God has used TBN UK over and over again to teach me, to grow me, to instruct and admonish and love and encourage me, through the various people and shows.  There is always something for everyone, and I love it when you keep things current and relevant to our times, just as Jesus did in His day.

PARTNERSHIP

TBN UK is bringing the presence of God to homes and hearts across the United Kingdom.

Friend, it is through your prayer and financial partnership that we are impacting individuals and families with life-changing Christian content twenty-four hours a day. The healing presence of Jesus is changing hearts and lives — because of you! Thank you for your support!

I would like to thank TBN for your very generous gifts of books for partners which you send out every month. I love them all. I have suffered for very many years from depression and anxiety and find reading others’ experiences and victories helps to crystalise my own thoughts to turn my story into something I can make good for others.
