The Greatest Connection

Connect with God through our exciting new TBN Presents episodes

We love introducing new teachers that have important messages on their hearts for the viewers of TBN UK. That’s why we’ve got many new episodes and guests on TBN Presents!

Charlie Blythe, European regional director at A21, a UK organisation that works to end human trafficking, speaks on the topics of unhelpful distractions, recognising our anointing, and fulfilling God’s purposes. In her message on ‘The Greatest Connection’, she will be encouraging and challenging us to re-connect with our power source and commit to our purpose.

“Imagine you gave me an iPad as a present and then later on in the day you saw me chopping my vegetables on it,” Charlie said as she prepared her messages for TBN Presents. “You would be horrified! There’s nothing worse than seeing something so costly not being used for its intended purpose. In the same way, there is nothing worse than seeing people, God’s children, who are so valuable to Him, not being used for their intended purpose.”

It can be easy to slip into patterns and priorities that give us comfort — but are we using our potential? How much do we connect with God? How often do we ruthlessly prune areas of our lives in order to grow? What examples of God’s fruit can we see in our character and our lives?

Charlie Blythe brings incredibly helpful answers to these and other questions on upcoming episodes of TBN Presents. We’ll also have fantastic new messages from Mimi Ajala on God’s character, and from Sarah Richards on restoration. Tune in throughout May and June, and don’t forget to connect with us on social media, @tbnuktv, for more info!

TBN Presents Charlie Blythe airs Wed 26th May at 7pm, repeats Thu at 9am, Fri at 3:05pm, and Sun at 2pm.

The Power of Pentecost

It’s the month of Pentecost! Many are familiar with the account of Jesus’ followers speaking multiple languages and thousands being baptised. But let’s take a deeper look at some of the elements of the story in Acts 2 that remind us to seek the power of the Holy Spirit today.

The Fire

Fire is a common occurrence in the Bible and it often arrives as the very presence of God in a particular place. This is important to remember as we read about the ‘tongues of fire’ that fell on people during the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This familiar image tells us that God Himself is literally turning up and meeting with people, dwelling within them. In Acts 2, we see God encounter His people and their actions are anointed with His power. How cool is that!? As we understand what God means when He says that He will dwell within us, we will grow in the expectation of His power to impact our lives and actions.

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
— Acts 2:3 (NIV)

The Signs

It is these God-empowered actions that drew crowds. Many were drawn towards those filled with the Holy Spirit. According to Acts 2, the Jewish people were awed and amazed at what was happening, and the same should be true today. We can expect and be eager for the Spirit to do amazing things through us as a sign to those around us. Throughout the account of Pentecost many things are mentioned: prophesy, dreams, languages, bold speech, repentance, generosity, and gladness. Do we seek these signs today, asking the Holy Spirit to come in power and act through us to capture the attention and hearts of our neighbourhoods and nations?

Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
— Acts 2:12 (NIV)

The Purpose

Encountering the Holy Spirit is the beginning, but not the end. This moment of power marked the beginning of what would be a spreading of the purpose and power of God (to the ends of the earth), for His glory. Three thousand people (and more each day) were added to those who believed in Christ and His resurrection. However, while many of these people would have had moments of awe and wonder because of the signs, what is more telling is that the ‘fellowship of the believers’ (Acts 2:42) is described as a devotion to teaching and being together. This is the second side of the coin when it comes to meeting with the Holy Spirit — the ongoing pursuit of a relationship with God and with other Christians. This can be our prayer and our mission, both for ourselves and for others who encounter the power of God.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and to prayer.
— Acts 2:42 (NIV)
