Honouring God This Christmas

This month we hear from Dr. John Kirkby, CBE, founder of Christians Against Poverty and host of the new TBN UK programme Managing Money. This insightful series focuses on how we can effectively budget during the Christmas season and financially plan for the coming year. It airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m., and repeats Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

I remember Christmas 1992 like it was yesterday, walking around the supermarket with my daughters Jasmin and Jessica in tow. I had lost everything, including my marriage, I was in huge debt, and life was really tough for me and my children. I had very little money, and for Christmas lunch, we had bacon sandwiches. No one invited us to their home for Christmas, and we felt lonely, sad, and afraid.

However, the good news is that I had recently found Christ, and despite outward appearances, something phenomenal was happening within me. Over the next four years I got my finances under control and devised a financial system that has since spread around the world, and I have been blessed to help over 200,000 individuals find freedom from debt and poverty. Most importantly, thousands of those men and women have also come to faith in Christ.

Helping people manage money well and live better lives has been a passion for me from the very start of my walk with Christ nearly thirty years ago. I am convinced that anyone can effectively manage their money, reduce their reliance on debt, live within their means, honour God in their finances, and live better lives.

The four programmes we’ve filmed for the TBN UK series Managing Money will firstly help you navigate the Christmas season: you will learn how to work out a budget, and how to make quality decisions about what you should — and should not — purchase. You’ll also be reminded of the real meaning of Christmas, and be inspired to face the new year with confidence as you learn how to build a budget and stick to it.

The system I will show you has helped hundreds of thousands manage their money, save and spend wisely, and live better lives. The simple principles I will show you will form into skills that will spill out into wider areas of your life. You will learn to be disciplined and determined, and discover how to make good decisions — and how to stick with them. Most importantly, you will learn to control money rather than letting it control you.

Joining us in this powerful financial series may just prove to be the most important Christmas present you could ever give to your family, and through the simple process, I share you will learn how it is possible to get your finances under control.

When I first met my wife, Lizzie, I was still in debt. However, the system I had devised — the one I’m going to share with you — has marked out our 23 years together in terms of the role money plays in our life. Our finances are under control, money serves us, we have a simple budget, we live within our means, we honour God in our finances, and it has really blessed our lives and those of our five children.

As a father, one of the things I’m most proud of is that all my children manage money well, have generous hearts, and have no debt problems. My grandchildren are growing up in secure homes, and I’ve no doubt the skills we learned and the systems we devised will spill out across the generations.

Just imagine! Next year you could find that you have saved and budgeted for Christmas, have your debts under control, and are free to focus on the real meaning of Christmas: the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

PARTNERSHIP

During this Christmas season thanks for your continued prayer and partnership. For many individuals and families, the only connection they’ll have to Christ this Yuletide season is through TBN UK.

You are key to getting life-giving programming into the homes of millions of individuals and families during this season and throughout the year. We could not air the quality content reaching over 90 percent of UK households without your commitment to pray and sow financially into this ministry.

“I love all that you do in your programming. Often there is a message of love and hope we need to hear and be encouraged. Let’s keep praying and supporting TBN UK to reach the lost and broken for Christ.”
