Living a Transformed Life

In this month’s TBN UK newsletter we are highlighting the extraordinary ministry and outreach of Kate Nicholas, a former senior executive with the Christian humanitarian agency World Vision, and a longtime UK journalist and PR professional. Author of the bestselling book Sea Changed, which recounts her amazing journey of transformation and miraculous healing from cancer, Kate is the host of a new TBN UK series entitled Living a Transformed Life, which airs Sundays at 9.00 p.m., and repeats Mondays at 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 3 p.m.

I am so excited to debut my new television series, Living a Transformed Life, across the United Kingdom on TBN UK. This programme emerged out of a very special interview I had a little while back with Leon Schoeman on TBN Meets about my best-selling memoir Sea Changed, in which I relate how God transformed my life while healing me from cancer.

I originally penned Sea Changed as a legacy for my children, because I wanted them to know how much God had loved me and shaped my life even as I faced potentially leaving them. However, when I miraculously survived, it all became about something even bigger and eternally focused — about helping people who were struggling to find God in the face of adversity and reassuring them that He can be found in the most unexpected of places — even in the midst of a life-threatening illness.

As I told my story to Leon and the TBN UK television audience, I explained how, in my darkest hour, God repeatedly re-enforced to me a particular verse of Scripture, Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

…God repeatedly re-enforced to me a particular verse of Scripture, Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

As I explained how God’s profound work of healing and transformation had prompted me to dedicate my life to declaring His works as a preacher, author, and public speaker — to my utter amazement, Leon offered me a television programme on TBN UK!

Now, I have worked in — and with — the media for most of my life, as a national newspaper journalist, a current affairs broadcast commentator, and, most recently, as global communications chief for the Christian aid agency World Vision. But believe me, I never dreamt that I would have the opportunity to “declare the works of the Lord” on a network like TBN UK, which provides a platform to reach every home throughout the UK with the Gospel message. God has an amazing way of taking the challenges of our lives and using them to his greater purpose.

The resulting series, Living a Transformed Life, explores one of the great mysteries of faith: the power of God to transform our lives, and what it means for us to be conformed to the image of Christ. Over twelve weeks of this series, we explore how God uses the circumstances of life to transform us — from the mountaintop moments to the deepest valleys — and what the fruits of this transformation look like in this life and beyond.

Throughout the series we take a close look at what it really means to live a life transformed by God, and how we can cope and live victoriously with all the challenges and changes life brings. We also reflect on the ultimate transformation God has for each of us — a transformation that takes place when we pass from this earthly realm to the next.

Throughout the series we dig deep into Scripture and explore the lives of key biblical characters, as well as meet individuals with some amazing stories of transformation. I also share a little about my own story as captured in Sea Changed.

To accompany the twelve-week Living a Transformed Life series, I have written a companion guide that covers the themes we’re looking at and which poses a series of questions for us to ponder.

It is my hope and prayer that TBN UK viewers will be encouraged and helped through Living a Transformed Life to pursue, and embrace, a life truly transformed by God.

Kate Nicholas’ book Sea Changed, as well as Sea Changed: A Companion Guide, are available for purchase at TBN UK’s online shop, tbnuk.org/shop and other Christian retailers.
